GAZA, (PIC)-- Hamas said on Tuesday that Mahmoud Abbas, the former PA chief and Fatah leader, has offered himself as a servant for occupation during his speech at the inauguration of Fatah's sixth general conference.

The speech gave priority to cooperation and negotiations with Israel and sought to pinpoint Hamas and Palestinian resistance as the joint enemy for Fatah and Israel, Hamas said in a statement.

It added that Abbas also attempted to rally the world against Hams through reiterating old lies and tried to drive a wedge between Hamas and other Palestinian factions and between Hamas and the Arab countries in a bid to isolate and besiege Hamas.

Hamas said that Abbas's speech was void of any reference to practical means to defend Jerusalem, halt settlement, lift the siege on Gaza and unite the people but offered cooperation with Israeli occupation and called for inventing creative peaceful resistance.

For his part, Ismail Radwan, one of the Hamas leaders, said that Abbas's speech was "full of lies and fabrications".

He told Al-Jazeera network that Fatah's conference would not bring about any decisions maintaining Palestinian constants especially when it was held under occupation.

Radwan expressed surprise over Abbas's sorrow over the victims of Gaza during the Israeli war while he had participated in the aggression.

Islamic Jihad said that Abbas's speech did not bring about anything new and only focused on the internal conditions.

Daoud Shihab, a Jihad leader in Gaza, said that Abbas ignored the accelerating settlement drive, judaization and the siege on Gaza.

He denounced Abbas's insistence on negotiations with Israel despite knowing that the Palestinian people would not gain anything in return.
