GAZA, (PIC)-- Senior Hamas official Ismail Radwan on Monday strongly condemned Mahmoud Abbas’s remarks in Al-Arabiya satellite channel in which he lashed out at the Palestinian resistance, saying that such remarks reflect the mentality of Abbas which only believes in the settlement option.

In a press release, Radwan said that Abbas only believes in the security coordination and frivolous negotiations with the Israeli occupation, so he is persistent in suppressing the resistance in the West Bank and refusing the national dialog.

He added that despite the slap in the face which Abbas received from US secretary of state Hillary Clinton and the failure of the American peace efforts, he is still mired in his criticism of the resistance and his negotiations with the Israeli occupation.

For his part, senior Hamas official and lawmaker Mushir Al-Masri said Monday that Abbas’s last attack on the Palestinian resistance is not new because he does not believe in resisting the occupation.

Masri underlined that Abbas does not know what to do and condemns Hamas for resisting the occupation or for conducting a truce, adding that his deep-seated hatred against Hamas makes him oppose everything it does.

The lawmaker noted that Abbas had given the Palestinian people nothing over 13 years of his political work in the Palestinian arena, calling on him to reconsider his policies and correct his behavior.

For his part, political analyst and researcher in Fatah faction’s affairs Dr. Issam Odwan stated the Abbas’s last remarks in Al-Arabiya channel in which he criticized the Palestinian resistance is kind of a political courtship intended for attracting the attention of the American administration and Israel.

Dr. Odwan noted that Abbas wanted through his attack on the resistance to prove publicly that he is a man of principle, asserting that Abbas is moving towards more failure and will not change his policy in the near future.

He underlined that Abbas’s attack on the resistance’s rocket attacks can be attributed to two reasons, first because he has no belief in the option of resistance and second, because he is trying to gain the support of major political parties that approve his anti-resistance vision.

Abu Obeida, the spokesman for Al-Qassam Brigades, the armed wing of Hamas, said that Abbas’s new attack on the resistance contradicted his speech during the sixth conference of Fatah in which he alleged that he was a man of resistance and revolution.

In a statement posted on the Al-Qassam Brigades website, Abu Obeida highlighted that the Israeli occupation contempts and despises Abbas because of his disloyalty to his people and therefore, Israel treats him like a slave and not like an opponent.
