GAZA, (PIC)-- The higher national committee in support of prisoners has disclosed that the Israeli occupation authority (IOA) had punished prisoner Abeer Ode from Tulkarem with one week of solitary confinement for not standing for the daily count.
The prisoner could not stand because she was sick, the committee's spokesman, Riyadh Al-Ashkar, said in a press release on Wednesday.
He added that the Sharon prison administration deemed her act as in violation of the prison rules and put her in isolation under cruel conditions as she was shackled to her bed and put under observation round the clock.
The spokesman said that the confinement worsened Abeer's health condition, yet she was ordered to another one week in isolation for refusing strip search.
Ashkar recalled that Ode was detained since 9/8/2009, which was not her first detention, as she was held in IOA jails for 34 months in the past and was released in March 2009. He added that three of Abeer's brothers are in IOA jails.
IOA courts, meanwhile, sentenced Aisha Abayat, 24, to three years in jail, and Suad Nazzal, 25, to 28 months, and Khadija Abu Ayash, 42, to three years.
