DAMASCUS, (PIC)-- Dr. Mousa Abu Marzook, the deputy-head of Hamas's political bureau, has ruled out Thursday the possibility that Mahmoud Abbas would make true his threats of dissolving the PA, describing it as a Zionist interest.

"Dissolving the PA is something not in the horizon now because it was and still an Israeli interest in the first place, and not in the interest of the Palestinian people", said the Hamas official in an interview on Thursday evening with the Qatar-based Al-Jazeera satellite TV channel.

He added, "We are facing hard options, and there are practical options that must be adopted, including halting all forms of security coordination with the Israeli occupation, confronting the Israeli settlement activities, ceasing the futile negotiations with the Israeli enemy, and relying on resistance as strategic option, in addition to true Arab support to the Palestinian people".

Moreover, Abu Marzook explained that facts on the ground prove that the United States is a party that we couldn’t pet on to solve the Palestinian issue, underlining that the Palestinian leadership should pet on the Palestinian people directly and without hesitation because the Palestinian people need true national unity now more that any time ever.

Reacting to the PA options that Abbas said he would resort to in the event the Israeli occupation refused to cease settlement activities, Abu Marzook highlighted that all the alternatives that exclude the resistance option would be ineffective.

"Indeed, the Palestinian national independence could neither be achieved by bringing the Palestinian issue to the UN nor thru unilaterally declaring an independent state that might gain sympathy and recognition from a number of countries in this world", he pointed out.

He stressed that when the Palestinian people unite behind the resistance and then go to the world saying we are united and we have the resistance in our hand, and declare to the entire world that we will remain steadfast in our land, at that time only we could achieve results and realize our national aspirations.

CAIRO, (PIC)-- Dr. Abdullah Al-Asha’l, professor of international law at the American University in Cairo said that the dissolution of the Palestinian Authority (PA) should become a Palestinian national demand, so that the confrontation can return to its natural state between the Palestinian people and the Israeli occupation, stressing that the PA’s continuation to negotiate or to merely exist is a Zionist requirement par excellence.

The former Egyptian diplomat, in a press statement on Thursday, said that he looked into the demand of dissolving the PA and found that such a step would only harm the occupation as it would deprive it of a legal cover called “Oslo” [accords].

He added that the Israeli occupation only needs the PA to give it a formal cover and help it on the security front, in addition to the fact that the Zionist entity uses the PA as a negotiating partner to evade its responsibilities as an occupying power.

Asha’l further said that as Hamas in Gaza is not tied to Oslo and it a resistance movement defending Gaza, if a resistance movement grows in the West Bank and worked together with the resistance in Gaza then the equation would change.

This scenario, he added, is not in Abbas’s interest, but the presence of Abbas and the PA only benefit the occupation which means that dissolving the PA is the best choice for the Palestinian people.
