Patriarch Sfeir Doesn’t Rule Out Hezbollah “Coup”

In Lebanon, politicians and even religious and spiritual leaders can accuse other parties with their “patriotism” without considering the repercussions of their statements…

Indeed, Maronite Patriarch Nasrallah Sfeir was quoted on Friday as saying that he does not rule out that would be carried out by Hezbollah but hoped Lebanon's crisis would be solved.

Sfeir’s statements came only one day after Hezbollah reiterated its adherence to the well being of Lebanon and to national unity as well as the sound and humane relationship between the components of the Lebanese people. “We adhere to this dear country which we sacrificed for and we will always be ready to sacrifice for,” Hezbollah Secretary General Sayyed Hasan Nasrallah said on Thursday in the speech he delivered to mark the tenth of the Hijri month of Muharram (Ashura), when Imam Hussein son of Imam Ali Bin Abi Taleb, and grandson of Prophet Mohamad peace be upon them, was martyred along with his household by the army of the tyrant Caliph Yazid Bin Moawiyah, 61 A.H.

Hezbollah doesn’t miss an opportunity without reiterate its commitment to Lebanon, its stability and sovereignty against all false claims. Hezbollah, the Resistance party which proved through acts and not only words its adherence to Lebanon and sacrificed its own lives in its interest, still finds itself in the position of defending itself against such accusations.

Hezbollah, the party which triumphed the Israeli enemy at least three times and which put an end to the “myth” of the “undefeatable army” achieving Divine Victories against it, is accused in its “patriotism.”

While Hezbollah, unlike all Resistances in the world, didn’t seek to take power following its victories, the Maronite Patriarch doesn’t hesitate to express his “concerns,” saying that Hezbollah might carry out a “coup” in the country.

Yet, the Maronite Patriarch added that it was difficult to preserve the status quo after the coup.

Speaking to Al-Massira magazine, he expressed optimism despite concern among Lebanese about a potential deterioration in the security and political situation. "The nation has faced a lot of dangers throughout its history but it has survived," he went on to say.

Well, so far I have not seen Hezbollah misbehaving like what the Maronite phalangists who massacred the Palestinians in Sabra and Shatila with the help of a common enemy; Israel.

after the massacre, thousand of them fled to Israel and are still living there.

What is that patriarch is talking about; his own religious and spiritual leaders?
