DAMASCUS, (PIC)-- Deputy chairman of the Hamas political bureau Mossa Abu Marzouk has denied that the victims killed in the recent mystery attack in Sudan on Monday were not Palestinians and had no ties with Hamas.

The Arabiyya channel had broadcasted suspicions that one of the victims was a senior Hamas leader who was suspected of smuggling weapons into the Gaza Strip. Sudan had accused Israel of being behind the strike.

”We have evidence that suggests the attack was launched by Israel. We are completely sure of this, but we don't know why,” Sudanese foreign minister Ali Ahmed Karti said Wednesday in Khartoum.

Responding to questions concerning the victims' identities, Karti said: ”We don't know who the two individuals are. They were only two Sudanese citizens returning from the airport.”

According to Sudanese authorities, the fighter plane appeared from the Red Sea and later returned in that direction after striking at around 10pm Monday.
