Aoun Accuses Sleiman, Miqati of Conspiring

The head of the Change and Reform parliamentary bloc in Lebanon MP Michel Aoun accused President Michel Sleiman and Prime Minister-Designate Najib Miqati of conspiring to keep the country paralyzed.

Speaking to reporters following his bloc’s weekly meeting, Aoun said Sleiman and Miqati were colluding with the head of the caretaker government to delay the formation of the new cabinet and keep the country in a state of paralysis.

“Whoever protested in Tripoli when Hariri was not re-named to form the new cabinet is the same one who is conspiring with officials against forming the new cabinet,” Aoun said.

“The people responsible for paralyzing the legitimate use of power are the president and the prime minister-designate because they don’t have measures specifying the formation of the government and they do not express what they want,” the General said.
The Free Patriotic Movement leader urged the premier-designate to reveal the real reasons behind the delay in forming the new government and to propose a cabinet lineup.

Aoun slammed politicians who have been criticizing the so-called use of violence against protesters in Syria. “We do not have an interest in interfering, we should not meddle in any Syrian issue, or any issue of any Arab country … these are internal affairs,” he said.
