Raad after Meeting Davutoglu: Syria Change Must be without Foreign Intervention

Local Editor

Visiting Turkish Foreign Minister Ahemt Davutoglo met on Saturday evening with head of Loyalty to Resistance bloc MP Mohammad Raad, who said there were different points of view.

However Raad said the two men agreed that the change in Syria should be made without foreign intervention.

“The change which the region is witnessing needs to be stemmed from people’s will and from outside”, Raad told reporters following the meeting at the Phoenicia Hotel in Beirut.

“Change and reform cannot be stirred [except by the will of the people],” and that “funding militants and supporting them need to be halted, because they thwart [efforts] seeking [to achieve the reforms] which peaceful people are demanding.”

Davutoglu is on a two-day visit to Lebanon for a U.N. conference on democracy in the Arab world.
