AMMAN, (PIC)-- The meeting between King Abdullah II of Jordan and political bureau chairman of Hamas Khaled Mishaal in Amman on Sunday was “positive”, political bureau member of Hamas Ezzet Al-Resheq said.
Resheq, who is in Amman as a member of the Hamas delegation, told the PIC that the delegates hailed the Jordanian stand in support of the Palestinian people’s steadfastness and thanked the monarch for hosting the delegation.
He added that the King declared support for Palestinian national reconciliation while Mishaal affirmed his movement’s keenness on Jordan’s stability and security and reiterated Hamas’s rejection of all alternative homeland projects targeting Jordan.
Resheq said that Mishaal and members of the delegation would offer condolences to family of Palestinian struggler Bahjat Abu Gharbia after meeting with the monarch.
Mishaal arrived in Amman earlier Sunday aboard a Qatari private jet in the company of Qatari Crown Prince Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al-Thani. They were received by Jordanian Crown Prince Hussein Bin Abdullah and Prince Ali Bin Hussein.
Jordanian sources told the PIC that the meeting started with King Abdullah, Sheikh Tamimi, and Mishaal then an expanded meeting was held in the presence of all Hamas delegates.
Well informed sources had earlier told the PIC that Mishaal and the Hamas delegation might hold other meetings with the Jordanian premier, the intelligence chief, and a number of partisan and popular leaders.
