Batesh: Gap between decisions and implementation obstruct reconciliation

[ 14/02/2012 - 10:35 AM ]

GAZA, (PIC)-- The gap between issuing decisions and implementing them is obstructing the Palestinian reconciliation, Khaled Al-Batesh, a spokesman for Islamic Jihad and coordinator of the freedoms committee, said in a TV interview on Monday night.

He called for abiding by his committee’s recommendations for the release of political detainees in Gaza and the West Bank.

Batesh said that “agents” were among the list presented by Fatah of its political detainees in Gaza, adding that the names would be reviewed by the general prosecutor.

The Gaza government has responded positively to the committee’s demands but no similar response was found in the West Bank, he said.

Batesh said that his committee was about to reveal the name of the party that obstructed implementation of reconciliation but the Egyptians refused during their meeting with the committee on Sunday.
