The meeting, which was attended by Tripoli ministers and MPs as well as security figures, stressed that the Lebanese army and security forces might take “decisive” measures to end the clashes in the northern city, the National News Agency reported on Saturday.

Following discussions, the participants agreed to “lift the political cover of all those fooling with security and stability and prevent armed presence in the city.”

They also “requested security forces to strike with an iron fist and deal firmly with anyone tampering with the city’s security,” the report added.

The NNA added that Miqati assigned the Higher Relief Council to compensate residents that were affected by the clashes.
