Top intelligence official killed in deadly Beirut blast

Who is the benificiary??

MOSSAD,  most likely its a response to Ayoub surveillance drone. As Israel can't attack Hezbollah, because such attack could lead to war, Mossad selected an easy target, to hit two birds, Al-Hassan who arrested many mosad cells in Lebanon, and target Lebanese  stability.

A member of Loyalty to the Resistance bloc MP Hassan Fadlallah said Hezbollah condemns and deplores the attack against our people in Ashrafieh. Fadlallah considered that the target was Lebanese security and stability and unity.

As expected Saad Al-Hariri and Jumblat accused Syrian president for killing Al-Hassan.

Following the explosion of Ashrafieh March 14 accused the Syrian regime .

"The explosion carries political messages, Lebanon suffers from the possibility of dragging it onto the Syrian crisis" said the "Future" MP Ahmad Fatfat "the Syrian regime has interest in this explosion, we saw Syrian President Bashar al-Assad threatened, previously, that the whole area will flare."

Phalange Party leader Gemayel considered that the blast carries the hallmarks of international terrorism

Internal Security Forces general Wissam al-Hassan was killed in deadly blasts Friday, according to multiple media sources.

Al-Hassan is the head of the ISF's controversial information branch, and had arrived in Beirut from outside Lebanon Thursday night.

He is considered to be a divisive figure in the Lebanese political arena. Backed by the opposition March 14 coalition, he has led a number of raids against people affiliated with March 8, most notably Michel Samaha who was accused of planning terrorist attacks at the behest of the Syrian government.

Earlier this week, Lebanese Al-Diyar said its editor-in-chief Charles Ayoub received death threats after publishing a series of articles criticizing al-Hassan.

The ISF's information branch was created in the aftermath of former prime minister Rafik Hariri's assassination in 2005. It was considered a counterweight to Lebanese military intelligence which was seen to have close relations with Damascus. The newly formed security apparatus was largely trained and supplied by US and pro-US Arab intelligence services.

This the first time a Lebanese political figure has been assassinated since a string of bombings between 2004 and 2008 killed a number of high-profile military and political figures in Lebanon.
A car bombing rocked a neighborhood near Beirut's Sassine Square Friday afternoon killing eight people and injuring 78.

Local residents told Al-Akhbar they heard a large explosion at 3 pm, followed by a smaller explosion roughly three minutes later.

Damage was extensive, nearly completely destroying the front of two buildings and setting several cars alight. One of the building's residents, Youssef Fakhry Mumathel, said he was sleeping at the time of the explosion; he woke up to find his furniture getting tossed around the house.

The doors and windows were blown off by the explosion and some furniture caught fire. "Where will we live tonight? We have nowhere to go," said Mumathel.

"Animals are better than humans. Animals don't do this to each other," he added.

"I'm a strong woman, but I just can't take this anymore," said a distraught local resident named Lody Rouhana who was sitting at a nearby shoe store when the explosion went off.

Rouhana and her son said they sat in total silence after hearing the apparent car bombs. "We thought we were dead," said Rouhana's son who declined to give his first name.

The Red Cross reports that 41 wounded rushed to Rizk Hospital, 4 to Hotel Dieu, 2 to the Lebanese Canadian Hospital and 14 to Saint George (Room) Hospital.

'However, it is also worthy to note that al Hassan was Saad Hariri's security chief & overseer/ coordinator of the Saudi intelligence enterprise in Lebanon... As such, al Hassan's latest primary task was to 'facilitate the Saudi arming and funding of Free Syrian Army' via Lebanon. He was linked with the ship, Lutfallah II, intercepted by the Lebanese, carrying weapons to the Syrian 'rebels' in Lebanon...'
