Iraq's premier vowed Wednesday to face terrorism and insisted security forces had suffered a "setback" rather than defeat.
"We will face terrorism and bring down the conspiracy," Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki vowed in televised remarks, adding that "we will teach (militants) a lesson and strike them."
He also said that the country's security forces had suffered a "setback" but had not been defeated.
Maliki blasted the Saudi and the Qatari roles in the crisis, saying that these countries will witness the atrocities of ISIL terrorists within their borders.

Iraq's prime minister Nuri al-Maliki sacked Tuesday four top security force officers, including the top commander for Nineveh province in the north for abandoning their "professional and military duty" a week after the fall of the northwest city of Mosul to the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant militants, the government said.
Maliki also ordered that one of the officers he sacked face court-martial for desertion.
A major offensive by ISIL overran all of Nineveh and chunks of three more provinces in a matter of days.
