Many US lawmakers and Jewish Americans are guilty of “treason” for being “more loyal” to Israel than to the United States

Many US lawmakers and Jewish Americans are guilty of “treason” for being “more loyal” to Israel than to the United States, an American investigative journalist says.

“It’s unfortunate that there are members of Congress, especially Republicans who can’t determine whether they’re more loyal to” Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu or President Barack Obama, said Wayne Madsen, who is also an author specializing in international affairs.

House of Representatives Speaker John Boehner has invited Netanyahu to address a joint session of Congress next month about the “threat” of Iran’s nuclear energy program.
This invitation “points to the fact that there are many Americans [who] are more loyal to Israel than they are to the United States,” Madsen said during a phone interview with Press TV on Monday.

“That has been shown in acts of espionage committed by a number of Jewish Americans for Israel against the United States,” he added. “In every definition in the dictionary, loyalty to another country over your own is called treason.”

Democrats are angry over Boehner’s invitation of the Israeli premier, which was planned without the knowledge of the Obama administration. Obama and Vice President Joe Biden will not meet Netanyahu during his visit to Washington on March 3.

Several pro-Israel lobby groups in the United States have threatened to “publicly condemn” Democrats who plan to skip speech.

Netanyahu’s well-funded Jewish conservative backers say they may use their funds to draw attention in the districts and states of any Democratic lawmaker who is not present at the US Capitol.

“This is, I think, a critical visit by the prime minister. If these Democrats would rather put partisan politics ahead of principle and walk out on the prime minister of Israel, then we have an obligation to make that known,” said Matt Brooks, the executive director of the Republican Jewish Coalition, a political lobbying group which promotes Jewish Republicans.
