Yemen’s Ansarullah to Issue Constitutional Declaration after Talks Fail

Local Editor

The revolutionary committee of Yemen’s Ansarullah movement is to issue a constitutional declaration late on Friday after talks between political parties failed to reach an agreement to fill the power vacuum in the country.

Al-Manar correspondent quoted Ansarullah sources as saying that the talks to reach an agreement concerning forming an interim presidential council failed due to stubbornness of some political factions “who are ordered by foreign powers.”

The sources added that the revolutionary committee will issue the constitutional declaration at 4:00 p.m. (1:00 GMT).

The political factions were meeting late Thursday to discuss the formation of the presidential council. The meeting was attended by the UN envoy to Yemen. Our correspondent quoted political sources as saying that there was an agreement concerning this issue.

The sources said that the council would be headed by the former president Ali Nasir Mohammad. However the talks failed after Reform party rejected the proposal, our reporter said.

Earlier on Sunday, Ansarullah revolutionaries, who drove al-Qaeda Takfiris out of the capital last September, set three-day deadline for the parties to resolve the power vacuum in Yemen since the president Abd-Rabbu Mansour Hadi offered to resign along with the prime minister last month.
