Saudi King Says to Continue Aggression in Yemen as More Civilians Killed

Arab Summit

An Arab summit began in the Egyptian resort town of Sharm el-Sheikh on Saturday with Saudi Arabia's King Salman vowing that the military aggression his country is leading against Yemen will continue until it brings "security".

The campaign "will continue until it achieves its goals for the Yemeni people to enjoy security," he said.

Yemen President Abedrabbo Mansour Hadi was present along with King Salman of Saudi Arabia and other Persian Gulf Arab leaders.

Egypt's President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi considered the military action in Yemen 'inevitable' after meddling by “foreign power,” noting that the “Arab countries are facing unprecedented threat to their stability and identity.”

For his part, U.N. Secretary General Ban Ki-moon urged Arab leaders on Saturday to resolve the Yemen conflict peacefully.

"It is my fervent hope that at this Arab League summit, leaders will lay down clear guidelines to peacefully resolve the crisis in Yemen," he told the summit.

Fugitive Hadi called on Saturday for a Saudi-led military intervention in his country to continue until “Houthi” opposition surrender and their leaders are brought to justice.
"I call for this operation to continue until this gang surrenders and withdraws from all locations it has occupied in every province," he told an Arab summit in the Egyptian resort of Sharm el-Sheikh.

At least 39 civilians have been killed since the launch of the Saudi military aggression against Yemen on Thursday.
