“Turkey’s AKP Adopted Sectarian Policy, Davutoglu Living Ottoman Dream”

The head of Turkey’s People’s Democratic Party (HDP) Salah Damertash said that one of the reasons behind his party’s resounding success in the recent elections was that it could gather the country’s factions without religious, sectarian or ethnic distinction.
In an interview with al-Manar during “Panorama Today” on Thursday, Damertash said the Justice and Development party (AKP) did not get a majority in the vote because it tried to dominate the state’s institutions.

The Turkish politician went ahead in slamming the AKP. He said that the ruling party adopted sectarian policy while dealing the events taking place in the region.
AKP “did not defend the others’ rights, something which widen the rift,” Damertash said referring to the Syrian crisis, noting that Turkey has become part of the conflict in Syria.
He also lashed out at the Prime Mionister Ahmet Davutoglu, saying he “is living the Ottoman dream.”
He added that Anakara’s foreign policy should be changed, as he stressed that the brutality of the Takfiri group, ISIL, does not belong to the Islamic religion.
“We will defend our people (against ISIL). We don’t fear but God and battles of Kobani, Rojava, Mahmoudiya prove this,” Damertash said.
On the other hand, the Turkish politician saluted the “struggler Lebanese people who achieved great victories.”
