OCCUPIED JERUSSALEM, (PIC)-- The Israeli occupation authority (IOA) is planning to build 14,000 new housing units in occupied Jerusalem, a Hebrew paper reported.
Ma'ariv said that the IOA is to endorse the project in Walaja village south of occupied Jerusalem within the few coming weeks.
It noted that the new suburb would stretch over 3,000 dunums and is expected to accommodate 40,000 settlers to serve as one of the biggest settlement projects in the holy city similar to Gilo, Pisgat Ze'ev and Har Homa.
The daily pointed out that the new suburb would extend outside the municipal border of occupied Jerusalem into the West Bank, and claimed that a group of investors had bought the land around Walaja village a few years ago.
In the West Bank, the Israeli occupation forces (IOF) on Tuesday handed memos to eight Palestinian citizens in Azun village, Qalqilia district, notifying them that their homes would be demolished for lack of construction licenses.
The IOF soldiers also confiscated a licensed tractor in Jericho village of Fasayel on Tuesday.
