GAZA, (PIC)-- Anderson Johnson, the secretary-general of the inter-parliamentary union (IPU), said in a letter addressed to the head of the international campaign for the release of kidnapped lawmakers that the commission on human rights in the IPU would discuss the issue of Palestinian MPs in Israeli jails at its next meeting to be held from 19 to 21 of October in Geneva.
Johnson noted that the commission has been interested in the issue of Palestinian lawmakers since they were kidnapped by Israel more than three years ago.
He stressed that commission made recommendations calling for the immediate release of Palestinian lawmakers from Israeli jails and promised to intensify the efforts for their release.
This letter was in response to the call made by Mushir Al-Masri, the head of the international solidarity campaign, which demanded the IPU to condemn the Israeli violations committed against the Palestinian lawmakers.
