GAZA, (PIC)-- The armed wing of Hamas Movement, the Qassam Brigades, has denied reaching an agreement with other Palestinian factions to halt firing missiles at Israeli targets from the Gaza Strip.
Abu Obaida, the Qassam spokesman, told Al-Jazeera TV network on Sunday night that his armed wing has an official site that speaks on its behalf, adding that official positions are included in statements published by that site.
Asked on a statement by interior minister Fathi Hammad, himself a Hamas leader, that his ministry would only check rocket fire if all factions agreed, Abu Obaida said that the matter was of the government's concern. Yet, he clarified, the statement indicated that there would be no stop to the firing of those missiles unless all factions agreed to it.
The spokesman said that this issue had nothing to do with the attempt to conclude a prisoners' exchange deal with the Israeli occupation authority, reiterating that resistance has conditions that should be met in order for that deal to materialize.
The firing of missiles is a "strong card" in the hands of the Palestinian people and they would never abandon it until occupation is removed from all occupied Palestinian lands, Abu Obaida emphasized.
