OCCUPIED JERUSALEM, (PIC)-- A bunch of extremist Israeli settlers attacked Monday evening the house of Al-Fityan family in Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood in occupied Jerusalem, while Palestinian citizens hastened to defend the house and fend them off.
Eyewitnesses said that a number of Israeli settlers stormed the area and started to throw stones at the house, which forced a number of the neighborhood residents to repel their attack.
Al-Fityan family is one of many Palestinian families threatened with eviction from their homes in the context of an Israeli Judaization plan aimed to give these houses to settlers.
In a separate incident, the Israeli occupation authority (IOA) issued demolition orders against eight homes belonging to Jum’ah family as well as a mosque in Jabal Al-Makbar area, south of Jerusalem, at the pretext that they are located near the separation wall established in 2004, according to Al-Maqdesi society.
In a press release issued Monday, the society said that more than 51 individuals including 33 children live in these houses, adding that Jum’ah family were ordered to evacuate their homes during the specified period.
Director of Al-Maqdesi society Mu’aad Al-Zaatari stated that the Israeli policy of demolition is systematic and aimed to banish Jerusalemites from their city.
Zaatari called on the Arab and Muslim countries, and the international community to intervene to stop the policy of ethnic cleansing practiced by Israel against the Palestinians in Jerusalem.
In another context, Wa’ed society for detainees and ex-detainees and Al-Salama charitable society organized Monday a rally in solidarity with wounded journalist Ahmed Asfour, who was kidnapped by Israeli ocucpation forces (IOF) at Beit Hanoun crossing as he was on his way to receive medical treatment abroad.
During the event, the two societies and the family of the journalist appealed to human rights organizations to urgently intervene to reveal the fate of Asfour.
For its part, the Hebrew radio has reported Tuesday that IOF soldiers kidnapped at dawn nine Palestinian citizens claimed to be wanted by Israel in different West Bank areas.
