CAIRO, (PIC)-- Outgoing Israeli ambassador to Egypt Shalom Cohen hailed the political relations and security coordination between Israel and the Egyptian regime and expressed at the same time his dismay for the absence of cultural relations between the two peoples.

According to different press sources, Cohen told a news conference in Cairo that the political relations with Egypt are at the highest level, citing as an example the visits made by high-ranking Israeli officials to Egypt during the last five years.

The Israeli ambassador highlighted that when it is related to political issues, Israel always finds Egypt ready and eager to give assistance, adding that the Egyptian-Israeli security cooperation reached an unprecedented level.

The Israeli official, however, expressed disappointment at the Egyptian popular adversity to Israel and hoped that the cultural relations between the Israeli and Egyptian peoples could improve.
