22/06/2010 Another meeting joined on Tuesday Syrian President Bachar Assad and the head of the Change and Reform parliamentary bloc MP Michel Aoun.

According to the Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA), the meeting discussed the positive developments in the Lebanese-Syrian ties as well as the efforts to take the ties to the highest level through bolstering cooperation between the two states in various fields.

Both leaders affirmed the importance of maintaining coordination and consultations on issues of interest for Lebanon and Syria.

The meeting also addressed the latest regional and international developments especially in light of Israel's ongoing threats "that are aimed at destabilizing the security of the region."

The meeting was attended by Energy Minister Gebran Bassil.

Following his return to Beirut, Aoun headed the weekly meeting for his Change and Reform bloc and said that his talks with Assad assessed the situation in the Middle East.
"Every human is responsible for his personal relationships with another," he said.

The General stressed the need for major powers to address the needs and rights of Palestinian refugees. "We demand the major world powers to address the situation of the Palestinians and allow them to travel the world freely seeing as they are responsible for their displacement," he said. "The land is not a commercial product, have you ever seen a people without a land and country?"

Furthermore, he noted that the Palestinians have weakened Lebanon once in the 1970s and that was a tragedy on the Lebanese and Palestinian people. "Those who are demanding the improvement of the situation of the Palestinians should sever their ties with the United States because it teaches us about human rights while it builds smart bombs to kill the innocent," he added.
