The Forty Predators of Press Freedom

The Forty Predators of Press Freedom

June 1, 2010 ·

On ‘World Press Freedom Day’, which was commemorated on March 3rd, the Reporters san frontieres (Reporters Without Borders), a Paris-based self-appointed champion of the ‘freedom of press’ – released its annual report of world’s Forty Worst Predators of Press Freedom for 2010. The list to the delight of Washington and Tel Aviv – included Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatullah Ali Khamenei, Iran’s President Dr. Ahmadinejad, Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, Libya’s Qaddafi, Somalian Islamist militia, Saudi Arabia’s King Abdullah, Ramzan Kadyrov (Occupied Chechnya), Palestinian Authority (West Bank), Vladimir Putin (Russia), Hu Jinatao (China) and even Mullah Omar from Tora Bora caves in Afghanistan. However, in order to create an impression of impartiality – the name of Israel Occupation Force (IOF) has been added to the list – maybe based on the Gladstone Report.

Interestingly, none of the western leaders (the US, Germany, France, Britain, Canada, Holland, etc.) under whose rules the the journalists are forced to roll over and play like a dead dog under pressure from the governments and the Zionist-controlled mainstream media bosses – are included in the list. Some of these countries have state laws to criminalize anyone who challenge the ‘Six Million Died’ story or believe in the Biblical criticism of the Jews or the criticism of Israel policies, such as, yesterday’s murder of 19 unarmed civilian aid-workers and wounding another 80 by Israeli commandos on Freedom Flotilla vessels sailing in the international waters. So much so, even the New Testament (Christian Bible) has become a hate literature , according to the US State Department for its criticism of the Jews. So much for the freedom of press in the so-called ‘civilized world’!

The Reporters Without Borders (RWB), like Save Darfur, is just another humanitarian mask for US-Israel propaganda front. The group is partly funded by International Republican Institute (IRI), which receives money from the US State Department and USAID. Another backer of RWB is British PR firm of Saatchi & Saatchi whose clients include Gordon Brown’s Labour Party and some of the multi-national companies listed on Boycott Israel.

These groups were actively involved in Washington\’s coups in South America, Middle East and Africa. Their current targets include Islamic Republic, Cuba, Pakistan, Venezuela, Brazil, China, etc. Author F. William Engdahl in his article, titled Reporters Without Borders seems to have a geopolitical agenda, wrote:
“The most interesting question is not the deeds of Hu Jintao or Putin or Ahmadinejad in the last year in relation to their national press, but rather who is judging these leaders. We might well ask, “Who judges the judges?” The answer is, Washington.

Paris is a curious home base for an organization that, as it turns out, is financed by the US Congress and by agencies tied to the US government. If we go to the RWB website to find who stands behind these self-anointed judges of world press freedom, we find nothing. Not even their board of directors are named, let alone their financial backers.

the RWB names China’s President Hu Jintao as this year’s ‘predator’ for his actions in cracking down on unrest in Tibet in March 2008 and Xinjiang in July 2009, both of which were the covert work of a US-financed NGO called National Endowment for Democracy (NED). Hmmm…

Those US organizations behind RWB include the Open Society Foundation of billionaire speculator, George Soros, the US Agency for International Development (USAID) and the US Congress’ National Endowment for Democracy (NED). Also included is the Center for Free Cuba, whose trustee, Otto Reich, was forced to resign from the George W. Bush Administration after exposure of his role in a CIA-backed coup attempt against Venezuela’s democratically elected President Hugo Chavez.
Perhaps an organization sitting as judge of world press freedom ought itself to practice a little more openness and transparency about where its backing originates. Otherwise we might think they have something to hide.”

The Committee to Protect Journalist (CPJ) has listed 12 top abusers where over 337 journalists have been killed between 1992-2010. The countries listed in decending order are; Iraq (90), Philippines (66), Colombia (40), Russia (32), Somalia (18), Mexico (18), Pakistan (17), India (16), Afghanistan (13), Bangladesh (11), Sri Lanka (10) and Nepal (6).
