[ 14/07/2010 - 06:13 PM ]
AQABA, (PIC)-- The Egyptian authorities on Tuesday night refused to allow entry of a Jordanian aid convoy called Ansar-1 bound for Gaza into Egyptian territories via the Nuweibi harbor citing absence of security approval.
Head of the convoy and chief of the Jordanian veterinary doctors union Abdul Fattah Al-Keilani said in press statements that the Egyptian foreign ministry had asked its Jordanian counterpart for a list of the members' names.
Keilani said that Cairo refused the entry of 138 members of the 150-member convoy including 17 women.
The convoy organizers held contacts with Jordanian officials to facilitate their humanitarian mission, and decided to stage a sit-in at the Egyptian consulate in Aqaba.
