MP Michel Aoun declared on Friday that he agrees with Hezbollah Secretary General Sayyed Hasan Nasrallah concerning his position towards the Special Tribunal for Lebanon and the international investigators.
Speaking to Al-Manar TV, Aoun recalled that he has raised since 2007 the issue of “illegal creation” of the tribunal. He said he has sent a letter to UN chief Ban Ki-moon in 2007 urging him to legalize the tribunal’s process since it was illegally created regardless of the Lebanese people’s will.
“Thus, we have no problem with not cooperating with the tribunal,” Aoun said.
“How can I cooperate with a tribunal which safeguards false witnesses,” the General wondered, reminding everyone that the false testimonies have led to the unfair detention of innocent people.
“Without entering into details, it’s clear that there is an ongoing attack on Lebanese through the tribunal,” Aoun said, denouncing the visit made by the investigators to a female clinic.
