Fatah prisoner in IOA jails on hunger strike over cousin's detention in PA jails

RAMALLAH, (PIC)-- The longest serving Fatah prisoner in Israeli occupation authority (IOA) jails Fakhri Al-Barghouthi and his son Shadi, who is serving a 29-year sentence, have gone on hunger strike in protest over the detention of their cousin Omar Al-Barghouthi in PA jails.

Fakhri said that he would launch the strike until the release of Omar, adding that it was regretful that strugglers such as Omar should be held in custody of the Fatah-controlled Palestinian Authority.

He hoped that Fatah would respect the struggle of Omar and his family, adding that he was ashamed over the news of the detention of strugglers at the hands of an authority controlled by Fatah.

Fakhri said that a personal message from him and his son is on its way to Issa Qaraqe the minister of prisoners in the (illegitimate) government of Salam Fayyad and to Fatah faction over the detention of Omar, who had spent 25 years in IOA prisons.

The longest serving Palestinian prisoner Nael Al-Barghouthi, the brother of Omar, has earlier gone on a similar hunger strike.
