Carter: Gaza siege one of the worst violations against humanity

GAZA, (PIC)-- Former U.S. President Jimmy Carter told Al-Jazeera on Friday that Israel and other regional countries were working to strengthen the Fatah party against Hamas, despite the latter having control in Gaza.

Carter condemned the continued blockade on the Gaza Strip as one of the worst violations against humanity.

The U.S. leader said Hamas won the elections, but Israel jailed their politicians and threatened others to be deported, stressing that delivering peace to Israel is impossible without delivering security to the Palestinians first.

He added that it was unfortunate that the world watches the siege on Gaza with acceptance and satisfaction while 40,000 students in the Strip are denied the right to education because of Israel’s block of building materials used to erect schools.
