Israel Scared Dreams of Weakening Hezbollah Could Collapse!

01/12/2010 Day after another, the Israeli enemy seems to be fully prepared to “celebrate”…

While the divided Lebanese are scared of the repercussions of the indictment to be released by the so-called Special Tribunal for Lebanon and are hoping the Arab efforts to reach a solution to the crisis would reach consensus as soon as possible, Israel is ready to “celebrate” the indictment, confirming Hezbollah belief that the STL is nothing but an American-Israeli tool and that the Israeli enemy is seeking to achieve its announced goals to weaken and “destroy” Hezbollah through the indictment after it failed to achieve them through military war as experience has shown in July 2006.

Only one obstacle seems to scare the Israelis in the meantime. It’s the possibility that the Syrian-Saudi ongoing efforts could succeed in reaching a solution to the crisis and therefore, ending all Israeli dreams of weakening and destroying and even ending Hezbollah through the much-awaited indictment.

Therefore, and without any hesitation, the Zionist enemy expressed its concerns and warned against any settlement that could weaken the impacts of the STL indictment, hoping that the international tribunal would open the “battle” with Hezbollah until defaming and fighting the Resistance party.

The issue was raised during a TV talk show diffused by the Israeli channel 1, where opinions were exchanged over the possible repercussions of the verdict on the internal Lebanese situation as well as in the border with the occupied territories.

The most remarkable stance was made by the former head of the Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee within the Israeli Knesset, Tzahi Hanegbi, who expressed hope that the Special Tribunal for Lebanon could open the battle with Hezbollah, amid big worries of possibly losing this golden opportunity through the success of the Arab settlement that would deprive Israel from the possibility of entering in a direct confrontation with Hezbollah.

“Israel is concerned with helping the international community to be able to sue the killers of Lebanese former PM Rafiq Hariri,” Hanegbi said. “It’s not important that the Lebanese who carried out the assassination be prosecuted. What’s even more important is to portray Hezbollah as a terrorist party which killed a popular and beloved leader in Lebanon,” he added. “The repercussions of such accusation would weaken Hezbollah in the near or long future. However, we have to be concerned due to the pressures that Hezbollah might exert of PM Saad Hariri to calm down the situation.”

Another Israeli expert on Arab affairs warned, meanwhile, that in case Hezbollah pressures succeeded in preventing the publication of the final indictment in the assassination of Hariri’s case, Hezbollah would become even stronger. “That’s what Israel should be scared of: the increase of Hezbollah strength and influence.”

Meanwhile, Israeli Chief of Staff Lieutenant General Gabi Ashkenazi rejected speculations that Hezbollah might attack Israel over findings of the US-backed Special Tribunal for Lebanon. Speaking during a visit on Tuesday to the army recruit center at Tel Hashomer, Ashkenazi said there is a "slim chance" of Hezbollah acting against Israel after the STL issues its indictment.

The comment came after Hezbollah Secretary General Sayyed Hasan Nasrallah warned that Tel Aviv could wage a new war on Lebanon after the publication of the court's findings. "The Special Tribunal for Lebanon could be a cover for a new Israeli war," Sayyed Nasrallah said in a speech during a ceremony to pay tribute to Hezbollah students. "In Israel, they have begun to celebrate the fact that the indictment will implicate Hezbollah,” his eminence pointed out, urging the Lebanese to unite and "protect the country" ahead of the announcement of the results of the UN probe.
