PA erases post from its website refuting Jewish claims to Buraq wall

RAMALLAH, (PIC)-- The Hebrew radio said that the information ministery of the Palestinian authority removed documents posted on its official website affirming that the Jews have no right to Al-Buraq (wailing) wall, west of the Aqsa Mosque.

It added that this PA ministry removed the document after they raised the ire of Israeli and US officials.

The Israeli government issued a statement considering this document evidence that the PA was not serious about its declared willingness to achieve a peaceful settlement with Israel and demanded its immediate removal, according to the radio.

The US state department also denounced this document which emphasized that Al-Buraq wall is an Islamic holy site and not Jewish.

PA deputy minister of information Mutawakel Taha posted on the website a study of five pages proving that the veneration paid by Jews to this wall on allegation that it was part of a temple destroyed many centuries ago is unfounded.

A spokesman for the US state department told journalists that his administration strongly condemns these PA remarks because they were wrong and did not take into account the feelings of others.

He said that Washington told the PA leadership repeatedly to necessarily fight all attempts made to delegitimize Israel and deny its Jewish historical attachment to the holy land.
