Geagea is not proud of Lebanon's stance in the UN Security Council
Lebanese Forces executive body head, Samir Geagea, confirmed in a talk with the Voice of Lebanon radio station on Thursday that "Lebanese did not feel proud of Lebanon's stance in the UN Security Council as Lebanon disassociated itself from voting on the decision of condemning Syria", considering that " the government's stance was ethical morally, but wasn't right politically, especially that 14 countries out of 15 voted for the decision which makes of Lebanon the atypical side."
"Doesn't that stance exclude Lebanon from the international group?" Geagea wondered, noting that this step "turned Lebanon into a small celestial body revolving in the Syrian regime's orbit" deeming "atrocious" the cabinet's move.
As for the relation between Lebanon and Syria, Geagea said that the Security Council's decision is not considered as an interference in the Syrian internal affairs but rather an international attempt to put terms to aggressions against humanity. .
Regarding the detainees who were liberated from the Syrian prisons, Geagea said that the Lebanese Forces party presented its law-draft in 2008, a year before the Change and Reform bloc, highlighting the fact that the healthy competition between Christian poles is very positive.
On another note, Geagea mentioned the national dialogue topic, assuring that President Sleiman is doing his best to unify antagonists in Lebanon, assuring that even if his party supports dialogue, the experience of the past four years remains not so promising.
Eventually, Geagea couched support to all the efforts deployed by the Maronite patriarch Bechara Boutros Rahi in a bid to reactivate inter-Christian dialogue.
