Iran's Fars News declares Saudi king "clinically dead"

Saudi Arabian King Abdallah has been 'clinically dead' for two days, reported Iran's Fars News Agency, while Saudi Arabian TV showed dubious footage of the King going about his state duties.
The footage aired Wednesday, ten days after reportedly undergoing surgery to tighten a ligament in his back. Abdallah is seen receiving visitors and appears to be in good shape. An unseen visitor is heard telling the King he is glad he is in good health.

The video which pans a room where the King is receiving guests contains no other indication of when it was shot.

Fars news had said that Abdallah's organs had not been functioning since Monday citing Asharq al-Awsat which in turn cited 'Saudi medical staff'. The unnamed medical sources said his 'fate would be determined' by Wednesday or Thursday.

Asharq al-Awsat's medical sources apparently contradicted assurances from Saudi crown prince Monday, Salman al-Saud, that the king was in good health after the 11-hour surgery.
The Tehran bureau chief for the New York Times had brought to light the conflicting reports on King Abdallah's status.
