A source in the northeastern province of Deir Ezzor reported that the locals of Sbeihan and al-Dweir towns clashed with terrorists from the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) and blew up an SUV equipped with a heavy machine gun belonging to the organization, killing 7 terrorists aboard it.
Speaking to SANA reporter, the source said clashes broke out after ISIS terrorists held captive a number of women from the two towns, located in the province’s eastern countryside, stressing that the organization has already suffered losses in personnel during the clashes.

This is not the first time such clashes erupt between locals and members of terrorist organizations, as those organizations, particularly ISIS, have been committing unspeakable atrocities against civilians in the areas under their control that have drawn the ire of the residents.

Examples of those atrocities included abduction, killing, mutilation, and crucifixion on charges of riddah (apostasy) and fighting the ISIS organization. The latest of such abhorrent crimes took place on December 9 where ISIS terrorists murdered, decapitated and crucified four civilians in al-Bukamal city in Deir Ezzor.

Last week, ISIS published a so-called booklet with instruction on ways of dealing with and treating women in the areas it seizes. Observers described these instructions as “repulsive” since they undermine the position of women in general and Muslim women in particular.

Residents of Sbeihan and al-Dweir towns followed in the footsteps of other tribes, particularly al-Sh’eitat whose members engaged in confrontations with ISIS that resulted in the killing of many of the organization’s fighters.

Several of al-Sh’eitan tribesmen also joined the ranks of the popular defense groups which fight alongside the Army and Armed Forces in combating ISIS across Deir Ezzor.
