Al-Moallem: Syria Determined to Eliminate Terrorism


DAMASCUS, (ST)- Deputy Premier, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Walid al-Moallem and the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic Martin Tlapa on Monday discussed developments in Syria and the region and ways to boost bilateral ties between the two countries.
Al-Moallem briefed Tlapa on Syria’s efforts to fight takfiri terrorism practiced against the Syrians by blacklisted terrorist organizations  like “ISIS” and “Jabhat al-Nusra” plus other affiliated groups backed by regional and international powers.
He stressed that “Syria is fighting terrorism on behalf of the entire world, particularly after the terrorist attacks which targeted Europe and other parts of the world have proved that terrorism recognizes no borders.”
“Syria is determined to eliminate terrorism and to continue working as to reach a political solution to the crisis in country,” al-Moallem reiterated. He highly appreciated the supportive stances of the Czech republic towards Syria and thanked the friendly Czech people for the humanitarian aid they sent to the Syrian people.
On his part, Tlapa expressed his country’s hope that a peaceful solution will be reached soon to the Syrian crisis. He also stressed the Czech government’s readiness to contribute to reconstruction in Syria and to efforts aiming at reaching settlement.
The Czech official said his visit to Syria expressed the friendship relation between the two countries, urging continuous contacts between Czech and Syrian officials.
Earlier, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Faysal al-Mikdad met Tlapa and explained to him the government’s effort to provide humanitarian services to citizens countrywide and spoke about the huge suffering caused by the economic sanctions imposed by the West on the Syrian people.
In the same context, the guest Czech official visited al-Harjalla makeshift center in Damascus Countryside where met some families affected by terrorism. He stressed that the government of his country has agreed on a program to provide humanitarian and relief aid to the Syrian people on several phases.
He stressed that the Czech government will work together with the Syrian government to coordinate the Czech Republic’s contribution to Syria’s reconstruction process.
