IOF strikes Islamic State militants inside Syria for the first time

A senior official of the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) praised the quick Israeli response: “The response was sharp and swift and intended to send a message that we are in the area and are determined to protect our border. The IDF’s response took place within minutes.” the official said.
Last month, the Israeli Air Force conducted numerous air raids on the Syrian Arab Army’s (SAA) positions in the Quneitra governorate. However, today marks the first time Israeli jets have targeted ISIS militants specifically.
Yesterday, local Syrian Islamist rebels announced they would embark on a large-scale offensive from the Golan Heights in a bid to reach the outskirts of Damascus.
Zionist military forces said on Sunday they killed four gunmen belonging to an ISIL-affiliate terrorist group in Syria who had opened fire on soldiers in the occupied Golan Heights on Sunday, a military spokesman said.
Spokesman Peter Lerner said the Zionist soldiers were targeted with machinegun fire and mortars and replied with fire, before the air force bombed the vehicle carrying the gunmen identified as members of “Shuhada al-Yarmouk, an ISIL affiliate”.
The soldiers, from the Golani brigade, were beyond the fence but on territory under Zionist occupation control and none of them were wounded in the clash, according to Lerner.
ISIL is the common abbreviation of the so-called ‘Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant’ (ISIL) terrorist group.
Zionist entity seized 1,200 square kilometres (460 square miles) of the Golan from Syria in the Six-Day War of 1967 and later annexed it in a move never recognised by the international community.
