RAFAH, (PIC)-- Head of the Egyptian Labor party Dr. Majdi Hussein has affirmed Saturday that the legendary steadfastness of the Palestinian people in Gaza Strip was a strong factor in the victory over the Israeli occupation forces, asserting that popular support of the resistance increased after the battle in Gaza.
Hussein, who succeeded in getting into Gaza using an alternative route after Egyptian security forces denied him entry through the Rafah crossing point, underlined, in press statements he made prior to departing the Strip, that the victory of the Palestinian resistance in Gaza has restored dignity of the Arab and Muslim Ummah.
He pointed out that the Israeli occupation government and its army attempted to put the Palestinian resistance down to its knees, but failed in doing so despite the full force they used in this course.
Hussein vowed to hold a press conference once he arrives in Cairo, adding that he wants to explain exactly what happened in Gaza Strip, pledging not to ease his party's efforts in supporting the Palestinian cause, and in ending the unjust Israeli siege on the Strip.
However, the Egyptian security forces arrested Hussein immediately after he stepped into the Egyptian territories, alleging he entered into Gaza illegally.
A number of Egyptian lawmakers from the opposition, including members from the influential Muslim Brotherhood bloc in the Egyptian parliament, deprecated their government for denying them entry to the neighboring Strip although their visit was for humanitarian purposes.
