RAMALLAH, (PIC)-- Former PA President Mahmoud Abbas, who is also the chairman of both of Fatah and the PLO, has issued a decree sacking Farouk al-Qaddumi from his post as the head of the PLO's political department, according to a Palestinian source.

The source which is described by al-Jazeera net as a well informed source said that Abbas has already informed the PLO's executive committee, during its meeting at the end of last month, of his decision to sack Qaddumi and that the political department will be directly controlled by the PLO's chairman.

The source added that this decision provoked Abdel-Rahim Mallouh, deputy had of the PFLP, and member of the PLO's executive committee, prompting him to ask that the decision not be approved without those present agreeing to it, but Abbas attacked him and asked him to stop his rejection of the decisions of the president and the Palestinian Authority.
