GAZA, (PIC)-- Dr. Ahmed Bahar, the first deputy speaker of the Palestinian legislative council (PLC), has described the assault on MP Mona Mansour in the West Bank city of Nablus at the hands of militias loyal to former PA chief Mahmoud Abbas as "unprecedented insolence".
He said in a statement on Sunday night that the militias attack on the house of the MP, insulting her and taking away her mobile phone represented the lowest form of moral behavior.
The deputy speaker underlined that the attack and similar incidents against Hamas MPs and their families pointed to a green light given by the head of the Ramallah authority, holding Abbas fully responsible for safety of those lawmakers and their relatives.
The PLC chairmanship issued a statement condemning the assault.
The Hamas-affiliated change and reform parliamentary bloc also denounced the attack on the home of MP Mansour, a member of the bloc, charging that it crossed all red lines.
Mansour told the PIC on Sunday evening that members of the preventive security apparatus broke into her home, pointed guns at her and called her bad names.
They threatened to arrest her eldest son Bakir before confiscating her mobile phone and telling her that if she wanted it back she should go to their apparatus's headquarters.
Mansour said that when she told them she was a member of parliament, they cursed her, her father and Hamas before leaving her home.
