Finally, and after a long "struggle," the head of the Democratic Gathering MP Walid Jumblatt "achieved" his "dream" and visited the "land" he has missed a lot…
On Wednesday, and while all eyes were directed to the awaited interview of Hezbollah Secretary General Sayyed Hasan Nasrallah with Al-Manar, the "fruits" of Sayyed Nasrallah's "mediation" saw birth in the Syrian capital…
Walid Jumblatt in Damascus…
This was the "surprising" news of Wednesday…
It was expected… Yet, its 'timing' remained a 'secret' until the last minute…
The meeting, believed to be a 'reconciliation' one, discussed historic ties and the importance of consolidating Syrian-Lebanese relations to confront joint challenges.
According to the Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA), Assad and Jumblatt also stressed the importance of the resistance as a guarantee against Israeli plans in the region. They stressed "the importance of reinforcing Syrian-Lebanon ties to allow the two countries to face common threats."
Meanwhile, Jumblatt lauded the Syrian leader's stances towards Lebanon and his keenness on its stability. "MP Jumblatt praised the stances of President Assad towards Lebanon and his keenness on its security and stability and lauded the efforts that he made to improve cooperation ties between the two countries," SANA said.
Hezbollah welcomed the visit and the reconciliation between the two sides. "This strengthens Lebanon's position in the face of Israeli aggression," given Syria's support for anti-Israeli militants, Hezbollah spokesman Ibrahim Moussaoui told AFP in Beirut.
Well-informed sources told Al-Manar that Jumblatt will hold a press conference on Thursday morning to address the visit he has made to Damascus.
