GAZA, (PIC)-- The Movement of Hamas on Monday renewed its vow to remain faithful to the approach of its late founder Sheikh Ahmed Yassin until achieving the national goals, atop of which is the liberation of Palestine.

In a press release issued on the sixth anniversary of Sheikh Yassin’s assassination, Hamas outlined some of the virtues he enjoyed during his life especially his extraordinary ability to mobilize the Palestinian people and the Muslim nation against the Israeli occupation.

It recalled his famous adage that confirms an inevitable fact which says, “The weak will not remain weak and the strong will not remain strong.”

Hamas reiterated its rejection of the frivolous peace negotiations and all past and future results engendered by such talks.

Hamas also highlighted that Israel’s Judaization activities and its religious war on Islamic holy shrines in Jerusalem and the West Bank are the beginning of its demise and the real spark that would ignite the conflict.

Zahhar: Hamas will never forsake the resistance or waive the constants

GAZA, (PIC)-- Dr. Mahmoud Al-Zahhar, a member of Hamas’s political bureau, stated Sunday that his Movement would never renounce the option of resistance or waive the national constants, calling on the upcoming Arab summit to place the issue of occupied Jerusalem on the top of its agenda.

In a ceremony held to mark the sixth anniversary of the Hamas founder Sheikh Ahmed Yassin’s martyrdom, Dr. Zahhar highlighted that the Movement of Hamas respects all Palestinian resistance factions regardless of their political affiliations or orientations.

The Hamas official also warned of conspiracies aimed to get Israel out of its current crisis that is aggravated because of its practices in Jerusalem and the West Bank, adding that Israel could also resort to escalating its violations against the Palestinian people so as to divert attention from its settlement activities and its consequent row with the US administration.

The official demanded the Arab summit to be held in Libya later this month to put the issue of Jerusalem high on its agenda, and to issue practical resolutions that can protect the holy city and the Islamic and Christian holy sites in Palestine.

Commenting on UN secretary-general Ban Ki-moon’s visit to Gaza, he said that Ki-moon’s remarks did not do justice to the program of resistance or condemn Israel’s war crimes, stressing that his visit revealed that the UN does not believe in democracy or its results as it claims.

For his part, Dr. Ahmed Bahar, the first deputy speaker of the Palestinian legislative council (PLC), strongly denounced the Fatah-controlled Palestinian Authority (PA) in Ramallah for accepting once again to resume its negotiation with Israel despite the latter’s ongoing crimes against the Palestinian people and their holy sites.

In a press release on Sunday, Dr. Bahar said that this renewed position of the PA is a flagrant mockery of the feeling of the Palestinian people and the Muslim nation and a blatant violation of all national and moral values.

Speaking about US envoy to the Middle East George Mitchell’s visit to occupied Palestine on Monday, the deputy speaker said that this visit is aimed to wipe out the positions of the PA and pressure it to accept fully the Zio-American agenda.

He added that this visit would take place in light of the American blessing of Israel’s recent violations, especially the opening of a synagogue near the Aqsa Mosque and the settlement expansion in Jerusalem, noting that the American administration only objected to the timing and not the idea of building new settlement units in the holy city.

As for Ki-moon’s visit, the lawmaker stressed that the visit was far below expectations because it did not address the real needs of Gaza people under siege, pointing out that the UN needs a major political and moral restoration work in light of the weak role of its institutions and officials.
