Freedom Flotilla coalition questions integrity of Ki-moon's probe committee

STOCKHOLM, (PIC)-- The coalition of Freedom Flotilla said it fears that the investigation committee designated by UN secretary-general Ban Ki-moon would attempt to whitewash Israel's deadly attack on its aid convoy that took place two months ago.

This came in a statement issued by the coalition at the end of a meeting held in Stockholm on Thursday.

"It has been more than two months since Israel's deadly attack on Freedom Flotilla on May 31, 2010 and nothing has happened to punish Israel for its brutal attack that led to the death of nine of our colleagues, or to put an end to the ongoing Zionist violations against the Palestinian people, especially the Gaza people who number one and half million Palestinians," the coalition's statement underlined.

The statement noted that Ki-moon's committee has limited authority to evaluate the ongoing internal investigation conducted by Israel and Turkey, adding that the legitimacy of this committee was also marred by the appointment of former Colombian president Alvaro Uribe (a close ally to the US and Israel) as the deputy head of this committee.
It said that Israel's alleged easing of Gaza siege was an attempt to embellish its image and avoid any criticism of its illegal policies.

"The entry of ketchup, chocolate and cardamom to Gaza will not help the Palestinian people to repair their shattered economy," the statement emphasized.
