A long time before the visit, Israel felt the visit is not in its interest. It was not only provoked but spared no effort in an attempt to prevent it of taking place. The United States, its strategic ally, contributed in the efforts.
Yet, once again, the Israeli and American dreams collapsed. Only a few hours separate Ahmadinejad from landing in Lebanon where he would receive a warm welcome.
The blow was double for the Israeli enemy. Not only Ahmadinejad is the “personal guest” of President Michel Sleiman but he will also be honored in Lebanon. He will meet top officials, take part in lunch and dinner banquets in his honor, tour the south, participate in ceremonies held in his honor, and most importantly celebrate victories made by the Resistance against the Israeli enemy.
“Israel believes Ahmadinejad’s visit to Lebanon is provocative,” expert in Israeli analysts and column writer in Lebanese daily As-Safir Holmi Mussa told Al-Manar website on Tuesday. He explained that Iran constitutes a serious threat for the Zionist entity, recalling that Israeli officials were clear in classifying Iran as one of their main challenges.
Mussa said that the visit enjoys many dimensions. “It’s not like any other official visit. It’s rather a symbolic one. The visit of Ahmadinejad, Israel’s main enemy, to Bent Jbeil specifically near the border with the occupied territories and speaking to the South residents from the same place in which Hezbollah Secretary General Sayyed Hasan Nasrallah celebrated victory and liberation in 2000 represents in itself a moral challenge.”
Mussa also said that the visit has a very positive impact on the Palestinian scene, emphasizing that the visit comes to consolidate the Resistance choice in the region and Palestine. “I believe the timing’s visit is very important. The negotiations seem to reach their end after Palestinians perceived negotiating with the enemy is meaningless and that the best means to get rights is only through resistance.”
Meanwhile, the Israeli enemy chose to remain “silent” on the eve of the visit, in an attempt to hide its “renewed failure” in achieving its goals or, at least, in raising its supporters’ morale. “We don’t need a campaign, because Ahmadinejad is creating a negative PR campaign for himself,” Israeli Foreign Ministry sources claimed while seeking to explain Israel's “silence” ahead of the visit, according to Israeli daily Ynet.
“He will arrive in Lebanon, and everyone understands the significance of this,” Israeli Foreign Ministry spokesman Yigal Palmor told Ynet Monday night. “The Lebanese are this first to understand the severe ramifications this visit has for their country. We have no reason to intervene.”
“Now he is directing his aggression towards Arab elements, and the negativity he exudes is so strong that it stirs natural resentment wherever he goes. With all the negative things he does and projects – he has become his own negative message,” he went on to say, without succeeding in hiding the Israeli negative mood.
Yes, Ahmadinejad’s visit to Lebanon seems to be in itself another victory achieved against the Israeli enemy, the enemy which found itself unable of only objecting to the visit.
Thus, Israel seems to be “provoked,” but unfortunately “speechless.”
