OCCUPIED JERUSALEM, (PIC)-- Israeli security forces have launched wide ranging security exercises in occupied Jerusalem that simulate human bombing operations against Israeli targets in the city.

Israeli police told media the exercises begin on Tuesday morning and end at night in the vicinity of Jerusalem and roads leading to it. The program is designed to simulate the occurrence of a human bombings against Israeli targets.

Security sources warned of possible bombings from Palestinians as the direct peace talks between the PA and the Israeli government started. Security warnings have been received in that regard.

Israeli Radio revealed on Tuesday a plan by Israel’s minister of internal security and minister of housing to devote millions of shekels to build up the Israeli police force in the Mount of Olives region in Jerusalem.

The objective is to ensure security for Israeli settlers after a number of incidents of unrest in the neighborhood.

The source said that under the plan dozens of cameras and sensors will be placed in the neighborhood. Border guard forces will also be enhanced.

Media expects Israeli Internal Security Minister Yitzhak Aharonovich to approve the plan in a few days and to apply it within the next four months.

Israeli Radio claimed that the Mount of the Olives in the last several months has been a hotspot for attacks against Israeli settlers.

Two settlement outposts on the Mount of Olives overlook the Old City of Jerusalem. The area is home to about 150 Israeli fanatic settlers. It was recently expanded and its infrastructure is currently under construction.
