Independent commission to prosecute PA for job discrimination

RAMALLAH, (PIC)-- The Palestinian independent commission for human rights said it intends to file a lawsuit with the higher court against the policy of security survey pursued by the Fatah-controlled Palestinian Authority (PA).

The idea of security survey is based on the employment or dismissal of civil servants according to recommendations issued by the PA security apparatuses in the West Bank, and this policy violates the Palestinian civil service law.

The commission affirmed it has a document that proves there is discrimination in the public service employment.

It said that it had received a letter from de facto minister of education in the West Bank Lamis Al-Alami in response to accusations of job discrimination in which she said that her ministry cannot employ some persons because they did not get approval from the security apparatuses.

The commission also denounced in a statement the PA security apparatuses for using torture against detainees in their jails.

It revealed testimonies made by Palestinian citizens who were exposed to severe torture at the hands of interrogators from the PA intelligence and the preventive security.

The human rights commission called on Mahmoud Abbas and his de facto government to issue a formal public declaration prohibiting torture of all kinds, and stressed the need for correcting the security doctrine of the PA security apparatuses on the grounds that Israel is the main enemy of the Palestinian people.

In a separate incident, the PA security militias kidnapped two Palestinian citizens affiliated with Hamas in Nablus city and issued an imprisonment sentence against another one, according to local sources on Monday.
