GAZA, (PIC)-- Detainee Irene Sarahne, Ukrainian, met her 12-year-old daughter Yasmin for the first time in nine years in the Israeli prison of Hasharon on Tuesday, Abdunasser Farwana, a researcher in prisoners' affairs, said in a press release on Wednesday.

Yasmin, 12, has been living with her grandmother in the Ukraine ever since her mother was imprisoned in May 2002.

Her father Ibrahim Sarahne, however, is still deprived of seeing his daughter ever since his arrest also nine years ago.

Farwana quoted lawyer Taghrid Dahshan in the West Bank as saying that the Israeli authorities finally agreed to provide an entry visa for the grandmother, in the company of Yasmin, to visit Irene.

The Israeli prison administration also allowed Irene's other daughter Ghazala, 10, who is living in Bethlehem with her other grandmother to visit her mother at the same time, Farwana said.
