WUPPERTAL, GERMANY (PIC)-- The 9th Palestinians in Europe Conference commenced in Wuppertal city of Germany on Saturday morning.
The event was organized by General Secretariat of the Palestinians in Europe Conference, Palestinian Return Centre (PRC), and Palestinian Assembly in Germany.
The considerable turnout of around ten thousand Palestinians from Europe who flooded from across the continent reiterated the Palestinian refugees' right of return and shared a moment of joy over the historic unity deal between once split Palestinian parties.
This year’s event titled “Return Generation knows its Path” focused on the conditions of Palestinians across Europe and their role in raising awareness about their just cause and stolen land.
The event was timed to coincide with the 63rd anniversary of the Nakba.
Speeches were heard by several Palestinian leaders and European public figures.
Member of the German Federal Parliament Inge Hofer condemned Israeli policies and hailed the recent Palestinian reconciliation.
Renowned Israeli lawyer Felicia Langer, who defends the rights of Palestinian prisoners held in Israeli jails, gave an emotional speech denouncing Israel's policies and praising the struggles of Palestinians.
The first of such conferences was held in London in 2003 and then rotated to different cities across Europe every year since then.
