BETHLEHEM, (PIC)-- Israeli occupation forces (IOF) opened fire at a group of Palestinian students while on their way to their secondary school in Taku village east of Bethlehem on Wednesday, local sources reported.

They said that the schoolchildren responded to the IOF firing of bullets and gas canisters by throwing stones.

The sources said that a number of students suffered breathing difficulty, adding that the IOF soldiers attacked the students at the pretext that settlers' vehicles were stoned near the town.

Meanwhile, Jewish settlers in Al-Khalil city attacked Palestinian homes near the Kiryat Arba settlement under the protection of IOF troops, who did not intervene to halt the attacks.

Locals said that "herds of settlers" mostly Jewish religious school students assaulted five Palestinian homes, noting that the settlers used stones and iron bars in attacking the houses in addition to throwing garbage on them.

Later at night, IOF troops sealed all entrances to the city and arrested a citizen after wreaking havoc in his home.
