SALFIT, (PIC)-- Jewish settlers savagely assaulted the 75-year-old Palestinian farmer Khader Mansour while tending to his land west of Deir Estiya village, Salfit district, on Wednesday, locals reported.

They added that around 20 settlers attacked the old farmer who is now in a bad condition, noting that settlers in the same area had burnt a mosque a few weeks ago and are daily damaging Palestinian cultivated land.

In the same district of Salfit, a Palestinian man has reportedly assaulted and killed an Israeli soldier east of the city on Wednesday.

Media sources noted that the attacker was hit with a car while trying to flee the scene and was later arrested.

Israeli Killed in West Bank Knife Attack

10/02/2010 An Israeli settler was killed Wednesday after being stabbed by a Palestinian while sitting in his jeep near the Tapuach Junction, located south of the West Bank city of Nablus.

Judea and Samaria District Police officers apprehended the man who killed the settler. The knife used in the attack was found at the scene.

Israeli occupation security officials said the man acted alone. He reportedly served as a senior officer in the Palestinian security forces. Mohammad Hatib, from the village Yabed, was transferred to the security forces for investigation.

Knesset Member Michael Ben-Ari (National Union) said in response to the stabbing, "The Netanyahu government is busy removing roadblocks and allowing Palestinians to travel freely. The army is busy clashing with settlers, and these are the results. The blood of the West Bank's residents has become cheap."

The Shomron Settlers' Committee said, "It is no surprise that when the defense minister (Ehud Barak) is enforcing the racist (settlement construction) freeze and the false arrests of settlers, the terrorists and their accomplices are having a field day."
