"Lebanon's prime minister voiced concern Wednesday about "escalating" Israeli war threats, and said his government will support the Shiite Muslim group Hezbollah if a new war breaks out with the Jewish state......

"We hear a lot of Israeli threats day in and day out," Hariri said in an interview posted on the BBC's Web site Wednesday. "Every day we have Israeli warplanes entering Lebanese airspace. This is something that is escalating, and this is something that is really dangerous."
Hariri said Lebanon, which has a notoriously fractious political system, would unite if there is a fresh conflict with Israel.
"I think they're (Israelis) betting that there might be some division in Lebanon, if there is a war against us," Hariri said. "There won't be a division in Lebanon. We will stand against Israel. We will stand with our own people."
Israel's foreign minister brushed aside the Lebanese leader's warning.
"As prime minister, he's simply a hostage of Hezbollah, which has veto power in his Cabinet," Avigdor Lieberman told Israel's Army Radio..."

10/02/2010 Days after Syria and Israel exchanged hostile accusations; Lebanese Prime Minister Saad Hariri told the BBC he is concerned about "escalating threats" posed to the Middle East by Israel.

In an interview published overnight Wednesday, Hariri told the BBC that Israeli planes were entering Lebanese airspace every day, and he feared the prospect of another war with Israel.
He accused Israel of making a huge mistake by allegedly threatening both Lebanon and neighboring Syria. "We hear a lot of Israeli threats day in and day out, and not only threats… We see what's happening on the ground and in our airspace and what's happening all the time during the past two months - every day we have Israeli planes entering Lebanese airspace," Hariri was quoted by the BBC as saying.
"This is something that is escalating, and this is something that is really dangerous," he said.
Hariri added that Lebanon was united, and that his government would stand by Hezbollah. "I think they're (Israel) betting that there might be some division in Lebanon, if there is a war against us," he said, "Well, there won't be a division in Lebanon. We will stand against Israel. We will stand with our own people."

Syrian President Bashar Assad told Lebanese Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri on Sunday that Syria would support Lebanon in the event of any attack by Israel, the official Syrian news agency SANA reported. "Syria will stand alongside the government and people of Lebanon against any possible Israeli aggression launched on Lebanon," SANA quoted Assad as saying to Berri in Damascus.
LIEBERMAN TO HARIRI: HEZBOLLAH KILLED YOUR FATHER!
Israeli Foreign Minister Avigdor Lieberman responded to Hariri's remarks Wednesday, saying, "Hezbollah murdered his father and he is in the position of being a hostage," Channel 10 reported, quoting Army Radio.

Speaker Nabih Berri, meanwhile responded to Lieberman. "After this statement, we believe you have a pivotal role in assassinating Lebanon's unity through your desperate accusation," he said.
