[ 20/09/2010 - 11:02 AM ] GAZA, (PIC)-- The Palestinian Council of Ministers Secretariat said the Palestinian government headed by Ismail Haneyya has adopted this year several political stances toward efforts to break the siege on Gaza, Israeli policies, and peace talks.
A report the council issued Sunday listed its key political positions in the past months.
The government in Gaza made several invitations to the U.S. administration to open an interactive dialogue, and to ease Palestinian reconciliation by lifting the veto and ending U.S. double standards in dealing with the Palestinian issue, the report noted.
The government in Gaza said it rejects bribes U.S Mideast envoy George Mitchell offered to the Palestinians against resuming peace talks.
Haneyya called for an Arab cover to achieve reconciliation in Palestine, while warning against unofficial negotiation channels that currently discuss political positions that endorse a new agreement along the lines of the Oslo agreement.
The government said it has denounced direct or indirect negotiations with the Israeli occupational government.
Denouncing the continued Israeli siege, which eventually resulted in the deadly attack on a Gaza-bound humanitarian aid flotilla, the report asserted that there is no alternative to the UN investigation into the Freedom Flotilla massacre according to international standards.
The council stressed that it has joined forces with the Legislative Council to push the prisoners’ issue internationally and ensure they are released from Israeli jails.
It condemned UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon’s decision to accept only PLO reports regarding the Goldstone investigation, saying that the decision was likely based on U.S. pressure to disrupt the probe.
